Original Ideas for Your Next Holiday

One recent survey found that three-quarters of British holiday-makers tend to return to the same hotels when they go abroad. If you find yourself in this group, but you want some inspiration to find a new location where you can create new memories, look no further! Here are a few ways you can achieve that.

An African safari adventure

Going on a safari is a great way to see African wildlife in their natural habitat, and support the conservation efforts of charities and members of the local communities who work at the national parks.

Botswana has some of the strictest anti-poaching laws in Africa, making it a hive of wildlife conservation. Stay in a safari lodge or a luxury tent at Chobe National Park, where you can see some impressively large elephant populations, buffalo herds, and lion pride.

The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is another great safari spot. Set in a 2,000ft deep crater, endangered black rhinos, lions and flamingo flocks all roam free here.

Cruising around Europe

Fancy something fancy? Take a cruise around Europe and enjoy a holiday that’s all about the whole experience: transportation, comfort and sightseeing. You’ll enjoy the exhilarating feeling of standing aboard the decks at sunrise and sundown and excellent food and drink. One of the other unique conveniences of a cruise is the chance to see more than one country in one trip.

P&O Cruises can take you around Northern Europe and Scandinavia and you can see the fjords of Norway, the Art Nouveau buildings of Helsinki and the historic Swedish island of Gotland. Or enjoy the sun on a Mediterranean cruise that can take you to the cobbled medieval streets of Genoa, the sunny shores of Naples, not far from the Pompeii archaeological park and the Sicilian city of Messina.

A motorhome trip in the UK

Or perhaps you’ve had your fill of holidays abroad for now and you just want a simple getaway in the UK itself. Rent or buy a motorhome and you can easily explore any corner of the British Islands you like – accommodation sorted! It’s possible to get comfortable motorhomes with separate bedrooms and fully functioning showers these days, and all you’ll need to do is find a few authorised campsites in your destinations to stay in for the night.

There are many beautiful spots in the UK where you can switch off from daily life: Cornwall, the Lake District, the Isle of Skye and the Brecon Beacons to name just a few!

Walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain

The full Camino de Santiago route is a 500-mile-long hiking route in Galicia that takes about 30 days to complete. If you’re looking for a new walking challenge in fresh surroundings, it could be your next trip.

It began as a pilgrimage route over 1,000 years ago, when the remains of the apostle James were said to have been discovered in the area.

As a hiking trail, the way is primarily smooth and flat, so the real challenge lies in being able to walk for lengthy periods of time, several days in a row.

Along the way, you’ll encounter rolling green hills and valleys, culminating in Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. If you begin at Saint Jean Pied de Port in France, you can pick up your Camino passport, which you will then get stamped at various stop-off points along the way to mark your achievement.

We hope we’ve given you some inspiration for your next trip! Where will you go next?
