Whether you are thinking about redecorating your home, or you just want to make sure that your interior is looking as on-trend as possible, it’s always good to be aware of the colours you are using in the home and how they fit in with what people are going for generally. The truth is that paint colours, just like anything else, go in and out of vogue, so it’s something that you might want to be aware of.

This can be useful if you are keen to make sure you are proud of your home and happy to show it to friends. And it’s also certainly something to think about if you are considering selling your home, as you are much more likely to get a good price for it if you have the ‘right’ colours going on. So let’s look at which paint colours look like they will be trendy in 2024 and how to use them in your home.

Pastel Blue

There is a gentle theme to this year’s colours, including a lot of lighter-hue tones. This is a perfect example of that, and it is a colour that you will already be seeing in many homes this year. A gentle pastel blue can be used in a wide range of ways. It could be the base of your bathroom, for instance. Or if you are painting a nursery, or you think you might be doing so at some point in the year, then it’s the perfect colour for that, too.

This is being called by some the ‘new neutral’, which, as you will see, is something of a 2024 theme, too, so it could be worth using this, even if just in a small way.

Persimmon

For something of a regency throwback, consider a persimmon colour such as that offered by HGTV this year. This is quite a calming, very light pink colour with a hint of orange, and it looks best in the bigger rooms where there is less going on for the eye to compete with. It will look particularly effective in dining rooms, and especially if you have a particularly grand one or even as a part of your kitchen.

One thing to say is not to overdo it and to make sure you pair it with some bold opposites – perhaps some deep velvet green furniture, for instance. That could help to make the most of it.

Cracked Pepper

As well as the general motifs of neutrality, you might need to be aware of another side of this. That is a focus on light and dark, shadows and shade. And towards that end, it might be worth thinking about making use of something a little darker than you might have been used to in recent years.

We are thinking specifically of the cracked pepper colour from Behr, who have called it their colour of the year for 2024. This is a softer shade of black than you might be expecting, the result being that you can use it for pretty much any nook and cranny that you want to bring to life. It’s especially suited to studies, libraries and other such areas. And if you want to really make it pop, you might even consider some white or similar coloured gallery wall sets to help the soft black shade stand out.

Ironside

This colour by the company Dutch Boy is another hugely popular and very beautiful shade, and it’s actually a really good indication of just how interesting and attractive a shade of grey can be. This colour is already providing a lot of sophistication and comfort to homes all over the world, and it looks set to increase its popularity throughout 2024 and perhaps beyond. If you are keen to make the most of this trend of dark shades, then this is another one you should certainly consider using in your home.

It also has strong natural vibes, which is another quality people are generally looking for in their homes right now. It’s definitely one to look out for.

Those are some of the pain colours you should watch out for in 2024. Any of those could be great additions to your home if you are thinking about remodelling or building a new home.
