Apparently there are eight points on the face which keep you looking young and I was keen to find out exactly where they were. It was my mission to investigate how eight little jabs of filler could give me a comprehensive, non-invasive rejuvenation treatment as I frantically tried to cling on to the embers of my youth!
This ingenious technique was designed to create a lifting effect around the lower portion of the face using a tiny amount of dermal filler to evenly spread the padding and restore volume and structure, giving skin back the support we all had in our youth.
I trotted along to celebrity favourite Dr Joney De Souza in Marylebone, and was surprised to get a friendly wave in passing as I was led to a room for my pre-treatment-numbing procedure, which involved a thorough facial covering of gel so I wouldn’t feel a thing during the needling process.
I was left to lie back and relax as my face lost its feeling, and thirty minutes later was invited onto Dr Joney’s couch, where we chatted and I immediately felt at ease. Although my face was immobilised, I was completely mesmerised with the process – which I was talked through at every stage – although I did shut my eyes when he inserted the needles, but I was assured the cannula was very tiny and would leave minimal (if any) bruising.
Dr Joney advised me the 8PFL is the most natural way to fight ageing as it targets the droopy mid and lower face – adding these areas are most straightforward to contour and return to their natural firmness. Each client is assessed and every treatment is personalised so the right amount of filler is used; my main concerns were jowls, marionette lines, hollow cheeks and sunken eyes, which had all taken a toll with the sun, age and travel.
The whole needling procedure took about 45 minutes, as we chatted through through the areas he was addressing: cheek, tear trough, nasolabial, mouth corners, pre-jowl, jawline, and lower cheek and I am very pleased we took time to completely immobilise my skin. With such small amounts of filler being inserted, the result is minimally invasive with fast results and visible changes within just one session.
Post treatment, I felt different, but couldn’t quite tell if the feeling was like coming out of a great facial. However when I got home I could see a definite improvement of my lines and wrinkles around the mouth, and Dr Joney assured me the dermal fillers help to stimulate natural collagen production for 9 -18 months.
