Set off London’s King’s Road, the Chelsea Day Spa is a delightful, small boutique spa that also has a branch on Hollywood Road, South Kensington. StyleNest paid them a visit to test out the HydroPeptide Infusion Facial, a luxurious age-defying collagen boosting treatment.
The HydroPeptide Facial is a seriously hardworking treatment. Using only the fabulous HydroPeptide products, which are packed with powerful peptides, natural anti-oxidants and organics; they work to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles, moisturise, plump and smooth the skin. Peptides, which can be found in a lot of high-end skincare, are amino-acid chains which promote collagen production, boost cell communication and relax the natural, repetitive contractions of the face – softening wrinkles and preventing more forming. Ultimately, they are some of the most effective ingredients in skincare, and the combination of the 21 peptides used in the HydroPeptide range work together to hydrate and moisturise, along with all the anti-aging benefits.
The Chelsea Day Spa on the King’s Road has a small, chic front and a tiny reception, but it extends over two floors and the treatment rooms are spacious and very relaxing. The feel was far more of luxury than clinical spa, which can be the case at many day spas, and made for a very pampering experience. We were invited in and offered refreshment, and then given a thorough skin assessment where we talked through our usual routine with the therapist and explained the current skin issues we were experiencing. Helpfully, she did not only harness this knowledge to give us a more effective facial, but also explained exactly what we could add to our home routine to give our skin the best care possible. It was a nice touch, and our therapist was knowledgeable and keen to offer advice. We then lay down on the comfy treatment bed after wrapping up our hair and covering our clothes in a robe, and she began with a thorough cleanse with the HydroPeptide Anti-Wrinkle Glycolic Acid and Jojoba Exfoliating Cleanser. This had a thick, luxurious and slightly grained texture, but was completely non-abrasive or drying and left our face deeply cleansed and smooth. She then applied in succession the HydroPeptide Anti-Aging Brightening Toner, Polish & Plump Peel and the Power Lift UltraRich Concentrate which was left on for a few minutes while we lay completely soothed, listening to the soft new-age style music and feeling very warm and content. Each product – and it really was a thorough application of the full Anti-Aging range – was removed gently with warm flannels. The whole treatment was so relaxing we could have fallen asleep, and each of the HydroPeptide products smelled amazing.
The next stage involved the Moisturising Skin Firming Hydrator, which was applied all over our face, neck, décolleté, arms and hands and massaged in. We weren’t expecting such an expert arm & hand massage along with the facial – it was very relaxing and left our hands glowing and hydrated. The high-tech Cellular Transformation Serum followed, to add lifting and firming benefits, along with the Peptide Miracle Mask which contains fruit enzymes to work with the peptides to fully rejuvenate the face. The final stages were an application of the Dark Circle Eye Concentrate to banish puffiness, wrinkles and disclouration (and this was applied very gently over the delicate eye area) and the Repair & Prevent Treatment – a light but potent cream to protect the skin post-treatment and keep it moisturised. Despite the numerous stages and the intense exfoliation of the skin, we experienced no stinging or irritation. Before we left, our therapist brushed on the HydroPeptide Lash Serum and the HydroPeptide Lip Plumper so we had the full effect of all the products. These will enhance lash thickness and lip volume with regular use.
Our skin was left so bright, even and glowing that we had no need for make-up for the next couple of days, and despite the bracing winds on the walk home, it remained smoothed and soft for the following week. Any dullness and patchiness was banished for even longer – making these some of the most long-lasting effects we have experienced from a facial. A truly hard-working skin treatment, with a luxury experience and visible results. The course of five treatments would make a very beneficial wedding or holiday preparation, or you can book a single one-hour treatment – which we think would be ideal for a Mother’s day gift.
