Wayuu Taya Susu Bag

aztec bagThe unique bag that has been causing a stir stateside is now available on British soil.

Already a massive hit with the fashion press in the States, charitable foundation Wayuu Taya have created a range of stunning, mismatched and unique ‘Susu’ bags. Each bag made is a one-of-a-kind so you’ll be sure you’re the only person wearing it this season.

Each individual bag is crafted by one of the Wayuu women in Shukumajaya, Indonesia. The women work eight hours a day over 21 days to create each item meaning they are ethically employed and each bag is made to the highest standards. Whatsmore, the weavers use skills and techniques that have been used for centuries before them, allowing the Wayuu Taya Foundation to highlight the community’s culture, traditions and beliefs.

The Aztec-inspired bags come in a colour palette of turquoises, burnt orange, reds, tans and blacks – adding a splash of colour and texture to drab Winter wardrobes. The Wayuu Taya Susu is roomy and practical, making it the perfect choice for weekend dressing or simply slinging on for the school-run.

The Wayuu Taya Susu is stocked online at Net-A-Porter and also from one of our favourite new labels, Lullilu. Founded by Ronit Zilkha, the new label follows in the footsteps of her much-loved eponymous first venture. Prints and wearable pieces are what she does best, so the decision to sell the Wayuu Taya bags fits perfectly.

The Wayuu Taya Susu by Lullilu is priced at £145 is available to buy online at lullilu.com
