Most people spend a lot of their free time updating the house, making sure they use every inch as wisely as possible to maximise living space and make it function for the whole family. However, few people take this same approach with the garden, often leaving it as one block of grass or patio. A garden has so much more potential than this, and if done right, it could become an extra room in your home that you will struggle to find an excuse not to use, even in the winter! How can you do this? You have to be smarter with your space. Here are five great ways to transform your garden.

  1. Extend Your Living Area

You may not have seen the point previously of upgrading your garden, given that the UK weather often dictates how much time you spend outside. However, it is completely worth your time and investment, particularly as your outside space can expand your living area. Whether for an office or extra space for your belongings, you can buy and install a summer house from Lugarde at the end of your garden. Rather than wasting space, you can put it to good use and free up some much-needed space in your home or enjoy a quiet retreat for those working from home days.

  1. Create An Extra Area For Guests To Stay

If you have a big garden, you could go one better than simply extending your living space. You have the chance to create a place for guests to stay comfortably. You could buy a log cabin with everything your guests could need whether they are staying at yours for one night, a week, or even longer! From insulation to double glazing and quality wood, getting a log cabin with all this means guests will sleep comfortably through the night.

  1. Split It Into Sections

Your garden can become both a haven and a functional space by splitting it into separate sections. Breaking it up will also add the illusion of more space – perfect if you have a smaller garden. You could create a kids’ area that houses all their toys and allows them a safe space to play, while on the other side of the garden, you might like to have a vegetable patch. At the top end of the garden, make a space for outdoor dining and cooking and use a trellis to section off another area designed completely for relaxing. For the extra special approach, build up from the ground to give the garden height and a more signified separation.

  1. Get Multipurpose Furniture

If you want to make the most of the outside space, you need outdoor furniture. However, this can take up a lot of room and make it look cluttered, which isn’t ideal if you want to use your garden to relax. You could buy an outdoor sofa with secret storage built into it or get an outdoor table that doubles up as a pool table.

  1. Plant vertically

With all the above items in your garden, you might think there is no space for flowers and greenery. However, you can use the vertical space, putting your fences, walls, and trellises to hard work. You can get hanging planters, plant a vine that climbs up a garden structure or wall, use ladders to display plant pots, and even create a herb garden using landscape fabric.
